written  by  Harivarman  and  translated  by  Kumarajiva,  on  which  the  Satyasiddhi  Sect  bases  its  doctrine.  It  was  a  Hinayana  variation  of  the  Sunya  (emptiness)  doctrine.  The  term  is  defined  as  perfectly  establishing  the  real  meaning  of  the  Sutras.

  ——古印度僧人、佛學家。漢名無極自在,本名月藏,法名燃燈吉祥智。生于巴格浦爾(另說班加爾或比哈爾)。11歲在那爛陀寺從覺賢學習佛學,旋去王舍城跟密教大師阿縛都底波陀學習密法,爾後又去超戒寺從那洛波鑽研顯密兩乘。29歲在菩提伽耶摩底寺(另說奧坦多補梨寺)從戒護受具足戒,學習戒律,又從法護學習顯教經典。在1013年阿富汗的穆突起默德·伽塞尼的穆斯林軍隊最後一次侵入印度前,他去金地島(今蘇門答臘)從法稱學習密法,並去錫蘭(今斯裏蘭卡)鑽研大小乘經論和密咒。44歲時返印度,出任超戒寺首座(大上座),聲名極盛,與寶生寂、覺賢、阿縛都底波陀、動毗波、寂賢等人一起被稱爲超戒寺八賢。

  ——朗達瑪在西藏禁佛以後,佛教陷于危機之中。11世紀西藏阿裏地區的統治者绛曲沃(智光)之請,著《菩提道燈論》,提倡叁士道和業果的學說,因而被稱爲業果學者。此時他就西藏當時大譯師仁欽桑布(寶賢)之請至妥頂寺。時仁欽桑布已85歲,交談之後,極爲敬佩,遂請其校正自己所譯經典,並聽從阿底峽的勸告,建舍閉關修定,直至逝世。

  阿底峽住阿裏叁年,正欲回印,到達尼泊爾邊境時,適逢戰亂,交通阻斷,不得不折回西藏。西藏譯師仲敦巴請其到衛地弘法,遂應邀至桑耶寺,譯出《攝大乘論》及世親《攝大乘論釋》等多種經論。他在桑耶寺看到大量印度所無的經典,甚爲震驚。其後又被請到拉薩聶塘,譯出《中觀心要釋思擇焰》,並自著兩部解釋此論的著作。後至耶巴,譯出無著造的《究竟一乘寶性論》。

  阿底峽的顯密譯著收于藏文大藏經丹珠爾中的有百多種。他傳播的思想和學說,後來形成噶當派。宗喀巴繼承和發展他的學說,創立了格魯派,傳播到甘肅、青海、蒙古等地。(郭元興)

  大乘佛學經典的總稱。又稱大乘修多羅、菩薩契經、方等經、方廣經或大方等經等。相對于小乘經而言。大乘經是隨著佛學思想的不斷發展陸續出現的。初期流行的大乘經,約當公元1世紀開始出現。有宣揚“人法二空”、“性空幻有”的《般若經》類;有“彈偏斥小”、“歎大褒圓”。弘揚居士佛教的《維摩經》類;有提倡“般若正觀”的《寶積經》類;有倡導“叁界所有,唯是一心”和“十二因緣,依于一心”的《華嚴經》類;有宣揚“諸法實相”,主張“開權顯實”和“會叁歸一”的《法華經》類;還有發揮念佛叁昧思想和奉行淨土信仰一類的經典,如《阿閦佛國經》、《無量壽經》、《阿彌陀經》和《般舟叁昧經》等。5世紀又陸續出現了一部分大乘經。有提出“佛身是常”、“法身具有常、樂、我、淨四德”、“一切衆生皆有佛性”等思想的《大涅槃經》類;有主張“自性清淨心”,發揮“如來藏緣起”的《勝鬘經》類;有講大乘菩薩道,以四無量、六度、四攝爲綱,用十善巧解釋智慧而構成的《菩薩藏經》類;有屬于論藏性質,發揮唯識學說的《大乘阿毗達磨經》和闡發“萬法唯識”思想,主張“阿陀那緣起”的《解深密經》;還有調和“如來藏緣起”和“阿賴耶緣起”的《楞伽經》和《密嚴經》等。此外尚有說菩薩戒行的《梵網菩薩戒經》,講如來叁密,建立各種曼荼羅,宣說各種真言陀羅尼的《大日經》、《金剛頂經》等秘密經類。

  上述大乘各種經類,是大乘佛學思想發生和發展的依據。大乘經部帙浩繁,漢譯者達數千卷之多。原來各家“經錄”大小乘經是不分的。《曆代叁寶記》所引作者不詳的《衆經別錄》,開始分“大乘錄”、“小乘錄”、“大小乘不判錄”等等。《開元釋教錄略出》則把大乘經分爲般若部、寶積部、大集部、華嚴部、涅槃部5大類,加上諸重譯經和大乘經單譯2類,共7部分。日本《大正新修大藏經》仍是大小乘經不分,但在10大類中,除阿含部爲小乘經,本緣部和經集部大小乘經混雜外,其余般若部、法華部、華嚴部、寶積部、涅槃部、大集部和密教部,基本上都屬大乘經類。《頻伽藏》則將大乘經分爲華嚴部、方等部、般若部、法華部、涅槃部等5部分。(高振農)

  古印度佛教思想家。據西藏資料記載,他是南印度梭羅修多羅國德桤王的兒子,原名寂铠,出家後改爲寂天。他曾在東印度第五代師子王處服務12年,勤奮好學,博通風外各派學說。後到那爛陀寺出家,拜勝天爲師。“內勤修學,外出放逸”。初不受大家歡迎,被稱爲“叁行者”(只會吃、睡、大小便)。後來當衆誦出《入菩提行》一千頌,才引起人們的重視。不久,又離開那爛陀寺,回到南印度。他是晚期大乘龍樹一派空宗的思想家,分別真俗二谛,反對彌勒、無著一派的有宗,對瑜伽行派的理論加以駁斥,同時也反對佛教的與非佛教的其他幾個派別的論點。在《入菩提行》中,宣講六度(六波羅蜜多),注重修持。他對佛學的貢獻表現在學風的轉變上。其特點,一是“守約”,即由博而約;二是“見行相應”,即不偏于“見”(理論和觀點),也不偏于“行”(實踐)。這對大乘學說的發展有一定影響。他的學說在11世紀由阿底峽傳入西藏後,被格魯派創始人宗喀巴大加宣揚,對藏傳佛教頗有影響。(金克木)

  小乘佛教說一切有部的六部論書的統稱。該部基本典籍常被稱爲“一身六足”。“一身”指迦多衍尼子所著的《發智論》(異譯《八犍度論》)。“六足”指《集異門足論》、《法蘊足論》、《施設足論》、《識身足論》、《界身足論》和《品類足論》。

  ①《集異門足論》。舍利弗著。玄奘譯。20卷。有部分藏譯。巴米揚(舊譯梵衍那)曾有梵本殘篇出土。該論主要注釋《長阿含經》中所屬《衆集經》的內容,解說《衆集經》中各種佛教術語,因此是說一切有部阿含經的延伸,論藏從經藏中開始分離出來的最初形態。此論的出現,促使說一切有部逐漸成爲單獨的部派。

  ②《法蘊足論》。大目犍連著。玄奘譯。12卷。梵本已佚,但有殘篇出土。此論選取阿含經中的22種主要說教逐一加以解釋,每種說教的解釋單獨成篇。例如雜事品注解了有部所傳阿含經中列舉的七十八種煩惱;根品注解了二十二根。此論與南傳上座部的《分別論》有共通之處。

  ③《施設足論》。大迦多衍那著。法護等譯。7卷。藏譯名《因假名》或《因施設》。此論祖述《長阿含經》中所屬《世起經》的思想,對阿毗達磨的宇宙觀、世界觀進行了詳細的論證分析,是說一切有部中期出現的論著。

  ④《識身足論》。提婆設摩著。玄奘譯。10卷。主要內容是對人們心識活動的分析,與上座部的《界論》相通。

  ⑤《界身足論》。世友著。玄奘譯。3卷。主要內容是對心和心作用的分析,是說一切有部的理論基礎,與上座部的《發趣論》相通。

  ⑥《品類足論》。世友著。玄奘譯。18卷。另有南朝宋求那跋陀羅的譯本《衆事分阿毗昙論》,12卷。學術界一般認爲此書並非出自一人之手,而是各種作品的彙集,論中提到的“五位”、“九十八隨眠”等是有部獨特的理論。有人認爲此書出現的《大毗婆沙論》編集以後,大概在160~320年之間修訂。

  六足論是說一切有部初期和中期出現的論書,通過這些著作,該部開始建立了自己的世界觀、宇宙觀和修持論,從而形成了獨特的理論體系。(于衆)

  研究上座部佛教思想和教理的重要論書。覺音著。約成書于5世紀,被譽爲叁藏典籍和義疏的精要。據傳,覺音在5世紀20年代到錫蘭(今斯裏蘭卡)研讀僧伽羅文論疏和上座部佛教教義時,大寺派僧團爲了測驗他的才幹,命其注釋兩首偈頌,而寫出此論。它雖和《解脫道論》在體裁和內容方面都十分相似,但見解不同。它依據上座部佛教大寺派的觀點,對一切物質和精神現象的闡述,煩瑣而複雜。全論共二十叁品,依照次第論述戒、定、慧叁學要義。一致二品闡明戒的定義、作用、種類和持戒的各項規定等;叁至十叁品闡述定的定義、種類、修習禅定的各種方法、目的和所獲得的福德等;十四至二十叁品闡述慧的定義、種類及修習方法等,這是《清淨道論》的核心,從精神和物質兩個方面詳細闡明關于四谛、五蘊、八正道和十二緣起等佛教的基本理論。

  《清淨道論》除了有僧伽羅文、泰文、緬甸文、高棉文、老撾文、傣文、天城體梵文和拉丁字母的音譯巴利文本外,還被譯爲漢、日、英、法、德等文字,一向被視爲研究上座部佛教哲學思想體系的重要參考資料,受到學術界和佛教界的重視。(童玮)

  部派佛教派別。音譯薩婆多部,簡稱有部或一切有部。約在釋迦牟尼逝世後300年之際,從上座部分出。在此後半個世紀內,又有犢子、法上、密林山等部從此部分出,所以也稱根本說一切有部。

  學說  以阿毗達磨爲立論依據,主張“法體恒有”,即把世間一切現象分爲有爲法和無爲法兩類。有爲法是因緣和合的産物,有生(産生)、住(持續)、異(變化)、滅(毀滅)的“四相”。有爲法計四種:表現物質現象的,稱爲色法;表現生理或精神現象的眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、意六識的,稱心法;各種心理作用稱心所法;心、色之外具有生滅的各種現象,稱心不相應法。無爲法指非因緣和合、無生滅變化的各種現象。據此五法又細分爲七十五種,統稱五位七十五法。說一切有部在分析色法時,提出了極微(原子)的概念。他們認爲,極微有變化、生滅、質礙等特性。所謂色就是質礙,質礙就是物有形質,占據一定的空間但又互爲障礙。許多極微的積聚,組成有質礙的物體。極微是河分近況有的微粒。世界上的各物質存在和人都是由極微所構成的。說一切有部中有的論師認爲,極微雖爲物質的最小微料,但無長短方圓等開頭也無東西南北上下的方位(方分),它不可分、不可見、不可聽聞、不可嗅、不可觸、沒有變壞,沒有質礙,但由極微結合起來的集合體,則是有形狀和方位的。但有一些論師反對這種說法,認爲無形狀、無方分的極微不可能積聚成粗開頭和有方分的集合體,因此,他們認爲,極微也是有形狀和方分的。有部還進一步指出:極微有色、香、味、觸四種“分別”。稱四塵。即眼根所見的是色塵,嗅覺于鼻的是香塵,味覺于舌的是味塵,膚覺于身的是觸塵。這四塵因分別具有堅、濕、暖、動四大性質,故又叫做地、水、風、火“四大種”。由于四大極微的性質和數量結合的不同,因而出現了世界萬物不同的性質和類別。有部還主張“叁世實有”、“法體恒有”,認爲過去、未來和現在皆有其實體,而且論證諸法都各有其不變不改之自性,同時也有造果之原因。原因出之所以,一切法既是實有,因也是實有的,因此又有說因部之名。由于一切有部認爲諸法都有其不變不改之自性或法體,因此只承認人無我而不主張法無我。有部對因緣關系中提出了獨特的“六因說”,即能作因(某物生時,一切不對基盧阻礙作用的事物)、俱有因(互爲因果。互相依仗的條件,如叁杖相依而言)、同類因(前面的因與後面的果,屬于同一類的事物)、相應因(一個認識産生時,心與心所不能單獨而起,二者必須互相幫助,互爲因果)、遍行因(遍于一切染汙法而生起煩惱的原因,如邪見、疑等)、異熟因(能引起不同性質的結果的原因,因其同類,不同而熟)。“六因說”是有部“叁世實有說”的立論依據,即認爲在叁世中有著因果的必然聯系,同時並發展了原始佛教的緣起觀。

  典籍  有部基本理論典籍是公元前2~前1世紀時迦旃延子著的《阿毗昙八犍度論》。前秦建元十九年(383)僧伽提婆與竺佛念譯出;後來,玄奘又在唐顯慶二至四年(657~659)重譯,並改名爲《阿毗達磨發智論》,還有注釋《八犍度論》的《法蘊足論》、《集異門足論》、《施設足論》、《識身足論》、《界身足論》、《品類足論》,合稱“六足論”。有部的叁藏典籍在漢譯本中保存較多。除論藏部分略如上述外,經藏有《雜阿含經》和《中阿含經》;律藏則有《十誦律》、《據本說一切有部毗奈耶》等28種,280卷。(童玮)
