  ——古印度僧人、佛学家。汉名无极自在,本名月藏,法名燃灯吉祥智。生于巴格浦尔(另说班加尔或比哈尔)。11岁在那烂陀寺从觉贤学习佛学,旋去王舍城跟密教大师阿缚都底波陀学习密法,尔后又去超戒寺从那洛波钻研显密两乘。29岁在菩提伽耶摩底寺(另说奥坦多补梨寺)从戒护受具足戒,学习戒律,又从法护学习显教经典。在1013年阿富汗的穆突起默德·伽塞尼的穆斯林军队最后一次侵入印度前,他去金地岛(今苏门答腊)从法称学习密法,并去锡兰(今斯里兰卡)钻研大小乘经论和密咒。44岁时返印度,出任超戒寺首座(大上座),声名极盛,与宝生寂、觉贤、阿缚都底波陀、动毗波、寂贤等人一起被称为超戒寺八贤。

  ——朗达玛在西藏禁佛以后,佛教陷于危机之中。11世纪西藏阿里地区的统治者绛曲沃(智光)之请,著《菩提道灯论》,提倡三士道和业果的学说,因而被称为业果学者。此时他就西藏当时大译师仁钦桑布(宝贤)之请至妥顶寺。时仁钦桑布已85岁,交谈之后,极为敬佩,遂请其校正自己所译经典,并听从阿底峡的劝告,建舍闭关修定,直至逝世。

  阿底峡住阿里三年,正欲回印,到达尼泊尔边境时,适逢战乱,交通阻断,不得不折回西藏。西藏译师仲敦巴请其到卫地弘法,遂应邀至桑耶寺,译出《摄大乘论》及世亲《摄大乘论释》等多种经论。他在桑耶寺看到大量印度所无的经典,甚为震惊。其后又被请到拉萨聂塘,译出《中观心要释思择焰》,并自著两部解释此论的著作。后至耶巴,译出无著造的《究竟一乘宝性论》。

  阿底峡的显密译著收于藏文大藏经丹珠尔中的有百多种。他传播的思想和学说,后来形成噶当派。宗喀巴继承和发展他的学说,创立了格鲁派,传播到甘肃、青海、蒙古等地。(郭元兴)

  大乘佛学经典的总称。又称大乘修多罗、菩萨契经、方等经、方广经或大方等经等。相对于小乘经而言。大乘经是随着佛学思想的不断发展陆续出现的。初期流行的大乘经,约当公元1世纪开始出现。有宣扬“人法二空”、“性空幻有”的《般若经》类;有“弹偏斥小”、“叹大褒圆”。弘扬居士佛教的《维摩经》类;有提倡“般若正观”的《宝积经》类;有倡导“三界所有,唯是一心”和“十二因缘,依于一心”的《华严经》类;有宣扬“诸法实相”,主张“开权显实”和“会三归一”的《法华经》类;还有发挥念佛三昧思想和奉行净土信仰一类的经典,如《阿閦佛国经》、《无量寿经》、《阿弥陀经》和《般舟三昧经》等。5世纪又陆续出现了一部分大乘经。有提出“佛身是常”、“法身具有常、乐、我、净四德”、“一切众生皆有佛性”等思想的《大涅槃经》类;有主张“自性清净心”,发挥“如来藏缘起”的《胜鬘经》类;有讲大乘菩萨道,以四无量、六度、四摄为纲,用十善巧解释智慧而构成的《菩萨藏经》类;有属于论藏性质,发挥唯识学说的《大乘阿毗达磨经》和阐发“万法唯识”思想,主张“阿陀那缘起”的《解深密经》;还有调和“如来藏缘起”和“阿赖耶缘起”的《楞伽经》和《密严经》等。此外尚有说菩萨戒行的《梵网菩萨戒经》,讲如来三密,建立各种曼荼罗,宣说各种真言陀罗尼的《大日经》、《金刚顶经》等秘密经类。

  上述大乘各种经类,是大乘佛学思想发生和发展的依据。大乘经部帙浩繁,汉译者达数千卷之多。原来各家“经录”大小乘经是不分的。《历代三宝记》所引作者不详的《众经别录》,开始分“大乘录”、“小乘录”、“大小乘不判录”等等。《开元释教录略出》则把大乘经分为般若部、宝积部、大集部、华严部、涅槃部5大类,加上诸重译经和大乘经单译2类,共7部分。日本《大正新修大藏经》仍是大小乘经不分,但在10大类中,除阿含部为小乘经,本缘部和经集部大小乘经混杂外,其余般若部、法华部、华严部、宝积部、涅槃部、大集部和密教部,基本上都属大乘经类。《频伽藏》则将大乘经分为华严部、方等部、般若部、法华部、涅槃部等5部分。(高振农)

  古印度佛教思想家。据西藏资料记载,他是南印度梭罗修多罗国德桤王的儿子,原名寂铠,出家后改为寂天。他曾在东印度第五代师子王处服务12年,勤奋好学,博通风外各派学说。后到那烂陀寺出家,拜胜天为师。“内勤修学,外出放逸”。初不受大家欢迎,被称为“三行者”(只会吃、睡、大小便)。后来当众诵出《入菩提行》一千颂,才引起人们的重视。不久,又离开那烂陀寺,回到南印度。他是晚期大乘龙树一派空宗的思想家,分别真俗二谛,反对弥勒、无著一派的有宗,对瑜伽行派的理论加以驳斥,同时也反对佛教的与非佛教的其他几个派别的论点。在《入菩提行》中,宣讲六度(六波罗蜜多),注重修持。他对佛学的贡献表现在学风的转变上。其特点,一是“守约”,即由博而约;二是“见行相应”,即不偏于“见”(理论和观点),也不偏于“行”(实践)。这对大乘学说的发展有一定影响。他的学说在11世纪由阿底峡传入西藏后,被格鲁派创始人宗喀巴大加宣扬,对藏传佛教颇有影响。(金克木)

  小乘佛教说一切有部的六部论书的统称。该部基本典籍常被称为“一身六足”。“一身”指迦多衍尼子所著的《发智论》(异译《八犍度论》)。“六足”指《集异门足论》、《法蕴足论》、《施设足论》、《识身足论》、《界身足论》和《品类足论》。

  ①《集异门足论》。舍利弗著。玄奘译。20卷。有部分藏译。巴米扬(旧译梵衍那)曾有梵本残篇出土。该论主要注释《长阿含经》中所属《众集经》的内容,解说《众集经》中各种佛教术语,因此是说一切有部阿含经的延伸,论藏从经藏中开始分离出来的最初形态。此论的出现,促使说一切有部逐渐成为单独的部派。

  ②《法蕴足论》。大目犍连著。玄奘译。12卷。梵本已佚,但有残篇出土。此论选取阿含经中的22种主要说教逐一加以解释,每种说教的解释单独成篇。例如杂事品注解了有部所传阿含经中列举的七十八种烦恼;根品注解了二十二根。此论与南传上座部的《分别论》有共通之处。

  ③《施设足论》。大迦多衍那著。法护等译。7卷。藏译名《因假名》或《因施设》。此论祖述《长阿含经》中所属《世起经》的思想,对阿毗达磨的宇宙观、世界观进行了详细的论证分析,是说一切有部中期出现的论著。

  ④《识身足论》。提婆设摩著。玄奘译。10卷。主要内容是对人们心识活动的分析,与上座部的《界论》相通。

  ⑤《界身足论》。世友著。玄奘译。3卷。主要内容是对心和心作用的分析,是说一切有部的理论基础,与上座部的《发趣论》相通。

  ⑥《品类足论》。世友著。玄奘译。18卷。另有南朝宋求那跋陀罗的译本《众事分阿毗昙论》,12卷。学术界一般认为此书并非出自一人之手,而是各种作品的汇集,论中提到的“五位”、“九十八随眠”等是有部独特的理论。有人认为此书出现的《大毗婆沙论》编集以后,大概在160~320年之间修订。

  六足论是说一切有部初期和中期出现的论书,通过这些著作,该部开始建立了自己的世界观、宇宙观和修持论,从而形成了独特的理论体系。(于众)

  部派佛教派别。音译萨婆多部,简称有部或一切有部。约在释迦牟尼逝世后300年之际,从上座部分出。在此后半个世纪内,又有犊子、法上、密林山等部从此部分出,所以也称根本说一切有部。

  学说  以阿毗达磨为立论依据,主张“法体恒有”,即把世间一切现象分为有为法和无为法两类。有为法是因缘和合的产物,有生(产生)、住(持续)、异(变化)、灭(毁灭)的“四相”。有为法计四种:表现物质现象的,称为色法;表现生理或精神现象的眼、耳、鼻、舌、身、意六识的,称心法;各种心理作用称心所法;心、色之外具有生灭的各种现象,称心不相应法。无为法指非因缘和合、无生灭变化的各种现象。据此五法又细分为七十五种,统称五位七十五法。说一切有部在分析色法时,提出了极微(原子)的概念。他们认为,极微有变化、生灭、质碍等特性。所谓色就是质碍,质碍就是物有形质,占据一定的空间但又互为障碍。许多极微的积聚,组成有质碍的物体。极微是河分近况有的微粒。世界上的各物质存在和人都是由极微所构成的。说一切有部中有的论师认为,极微虽为物质的最小微料,但无长短方圆等开头也无东西南北上下的方位(方分),它不可分、不可见、不可听闻、不可嗅、不可触、没有变坏,没有质碍,但由极微结合起来的集合体,则是有形状和方位的。但有一些论师反对这种说法,认为无形状、无方分的极微不可能积聚成粗开头和有方分的集合体,因此,他们认为,极微也是有形状和方分的。有部还进一步指出:极微有色、香、味、触四种“分别”。称四尘。即眼根所见的是色尘,嗅觉于鼻的是香尘,味觉于舌的是味尘,肤觉于身的是触尘。这四尘因分别具有坚、湿、暖、动四大性质,故又叫做地、水、风、火“四大种”。由于四大极微的性质和数量结合的不同,因而出现了世界万物不同的性质和类别。有部还主张“三世实有”、“法体恒有”,认为过去、未来和现在皆有其实体,而且论证诸法都各有其不变不改之自性,同时也有造果之原因。原因出之所以,一切法既是实有,因也是实有的,因此又有说因部之名。由于一切有部认为诸法都有其不变不改之自性或法体,因此只承认人无我而不主张法无我。有部对因缘关系中提出了独特的“六因说”,即能作因(某物生时,一切不对基卢阻碍作用的事物)、俱有因(互为因果。互相依仗的条件,如三杖相依而言)、同类因(前面的因与后面的果,属于同一类的事物)、相应因(一个认识产生时,心与心所不能单独而起,二者必须互相帮助,互为因果)、遍行因(遍于一切染污法而生起烦恼的原因,如邪见、疑等)、异熟因(能引起不同性质的结果的原因,因其同类,不同而熟)。“六因说”是有部“三世实有说”的立论依据,即认为在三世中有着因果的必然联系,同时并发展了原始佛教的缘起观。

  典籍  有部基本理论典籍是公元前2~前1世纪时迦旃延子著的《阿毗昙八犍度论》。前秦建元十九年(383)僧伽提婆与竺佛念译出;后来,玄奘又在唐显庆二至四年(657~659)重译,并改名为《阿毗达磨发智论》,还有注释《八犍度论》的《法蕴足论》、《集异门足论》、《施设足论》、《识身足论》、《界身足论》、《品类足论》,合称“六足论”。有部的三藏典籍在汉译本中保存较多。除论藏部分略如上述外,经藏有《杂阿含经》和《中阿含经》;律藏则有《十诵律》、《据本说一切有部毗奈耶》等28种,280卷。(童玮)
