Three  Meditations  of  One  Mind  ==  一心叁觀

Also  known  as  Three  Inconceivable  Meditations,  which  is  one  of  the  practices  in  Tien  Tai  Sect  in  China.  According  to  Tien  Tai,  all  existence  in  the  universe  consists  of  Three  Dogmas  (Truths),  namely,  Void,  Unreal  and  Mean.  These  three  Dogmas  are  co-existent  and  interactive,  integrated  and  interrelated.  If  one  can  meditate  this  concept  with  the  whole  mind,  it  is  call  Three  Meditations  of  One  mind,  or  Inconceivable  Profound  Meditation.

”insight  leading  to  (path)  ascent”.  It  is  also  called  ”cleansing”  (voda^na,  q.v.),  and  according  to  Pts.M.  II,  64,  it  is  a  name  for  3  kinds  of  insight-knowledge,  namely:  knowledge  consisting  in  the  desire  for  deliverance  (muccitu-kamyata^-n~a^na;  s.  visuddhi  VI  6);  reflecting-contemplation-knowledge  (patisankha^nupassana^-n~a^na;  ib.  VI,  7);  and  knowledge  consisting  in  equanimity  regarding  all  formations  (sankha^rupekkha^-n~a^na;  s.  visuddhi  VI,  8).
It  arises  at  the  stage  of  ”purification  by  knowledge  and  vision  of  the  path-progress”  (s.  visuddhi  VI),  and  is  followed  immediately  by  the  maturity  moment  and  the  entrance  into  the  supermundane  paths.
"”Ascent”  (vuttha^na)  is  the  supermundane  path  (s.  ariya-puggala)  since  it  rises  above  the  object  forming  the  external  foundation  (of  insight;  i.e.  the  external  5  groups  of  existence),  in  which  object  one”s  mind  was  absorbed,  and  also  rises  above  one”s  own  continuity  (one”s  own  5  groups  of  existence,  or  khandha,  q.v.)  together  with  its  defilements.  By  reason  of  its  leading  upwards  to  the  supermundane  path,  this  insight  is  called  ”ascending  insight”.  That  it  passes  on  to  the  path:  that  is  the  meaning  implied"  (Vis.M.  XXI,  83f.).  (App.).

  Zhongguo  Fojiao  meishu

  源于古印度而在中國發揚光大的佛教繪畫、雕塑等的總稱。最初隨佛教從印度傳入,後來逐漸發展而具有中國民族風格和特色。晉袁宏《後漢紀》稱:“初,明帝夢見金人,長大,項有日月光,以問群臣。或曰:“西方有神,其名曰佛,其形長大,陛下所夢,得無是乎?”于是遣使天竺,而問其道術,遂于中國而圖其形像焉。“《後漢書·西域傳》的記載與此略同。《佛祖統紀》等也記其事。傳蔡  于明帝永平初遣使赴大月氏,至永平十一年(公元68,一說永平九年),偕沙門迦葉摩騰、竺法蘭東還洛陽,時以白馬馱經及白氈裹釋迦立像,因在洛陽城西雍關外,建立白馬寺並在寺中壁上作千佛萬騎叁匝繞塔圖。《釋書·釋老志》說:”自帝令畫工圖佛像,置清涼臺及顯節陵上。“這是中國最初自作的佛畫。

  淵源和發展  中國佛教造像、畫佛、造塔,最初都從印度傳來。從印度現存佛教遺迹看,第一期的菩提伽耶,第二期的巴魯特、桑奇都無佛像,只有佛座和佛的足迹,以表示佛的所在。第叁期的阿摩拉瓦提已有雕刻的佛像與佛足迹,兩者同時存在。到第四期的阿旃陀、犍陀羅只有佛像而無佛足迹,並刻有佛傳。犍陀羅當時爲中國西北月氏族移民所建貴霜王朝的國都,取希臘所遺文化而光大之,故月氏佛教美術,獨具特色。傳入中土首達新疆西部,今存者有拜城縣克孜爾明屋壁畫,繪有佛傳及佛本生故事,庫車縣庫木吐喇千佛洞,森木塞姆千佛洞等。沿絲綢之路,東來而至甘肅的,有敦煌鳴沙山莫高窟、永靖炳靈寺石窟、天水麥積山石窟;又有安西榆林石窟、山西大同雲崗石窟、河南洛陽龍門石窟、四川廣元石窟,以及江南攝山石窟等。全國造石窟之數不可勝計,其中碑幢之類,曆世殘毀頗多,但今所保存,爲世界之冠。

  公元1世紀時,大月氏成立貴霜王朝,繼續占領西南高附,東南罽賓,以及整個犍陀羅。地當絲綢之路的商業要沖,財力雄厚,貿易常用金幣。迦膩色迦王遠征中印在地他的支持下,佛教得到重要的發展。佛教經像傳于中土,即自大月氏來。而中國西部佛教美術,亦以于阗、龜茲所保存者最多。敦煌、雲岡馳名世界,其余朝鮮、日本等地,皆學于中國。而印度本土的大部分佛教經像美術,于9世紀後爲印度教徒、穆斯林所毀,僅佛教幾個大石窟較完整地保存至今。

  無論造像繪畫和雕塑等,都是在中國土地上發育成長的,具有中國的民族風格。初期雖曾受有印度的影響,但同一題材、內容和表現的方法都已不同。印度的佛教壁畫在阿旃陀石窟中,表現不少娛樂場面,飲酒宴談,神通遊戲,菩薩人物裝飾華豔,婉娈多姿,色彩鮮明,即使降魔變這樣的題材,也布置得如同演劇的場景一樣,使人並無畏怖之感。反之在敦煌北魏壁畫中,常常陰森可怖,畫出了苦行的故事,如舍身飼虎,強盜挖自等。線條與色彩,也是粗犷而強烈,看不出柔和與可親的感情。

  佛畫  早在梁代,張僧繇即以善畫佛像名世。他獨出心裁,創立了“張家樣”,佛像的中國化,從此有了很好的發展。其子善果和儒童也善畫,並擅佛畫,能傳其業。善果畫悉達太子納紀圖,靈嘉寺塔樣;儒童畫釋迦會圖,寶積經變圖。在南北朝後期,張僧繇的影響很大,有不少學習他的畫派,所謂“望其塵躅,如周孔焉”,可見聲望之隆。他筆法簡練,《曆代名畫記》說他“筆才一二,而像已應嚴焉,因材取之,今古獨立,象人之妙,張得其肉,陸得其骨,顧得其神”。隋以前,僧繇是中國佛教繪畫的一個開創者和推動者。北齊曹仲達,佛畫頗亨盛名。因來自中亞的曹國,原來帶有西域的作風,在中原既久,畫藝漸染上中國民族風格,創立了“曹家樣”,爲唐代盛行的四大式樣之一。它的樣點是衣服緊窄,大約與印度笈多王雕刻,有同樣的風格。後與吳道子結合中國傳統風格所創立的“吳家樣”並稱。所謂“曹衣出水,吳帶當風”,就是對他們概括的評語。曹畫雖失傳,但看到鹿野苑所藏釋迦立像,衣如濕沾體上,就可想見曹畫。吳畫衣帶寬博,飄飄欲仙,在敦煌壁畫中還可看到他的畫風。隋唐時期,佛畫已經中國化。

  壁畫  隋唐時代的壁畫,今存于麥積山石窟與敦煌莫高窟。敦煌所存唐代壁畫,尤爲富美,色彩豔麗,人物造型,往往以當時的貴官貴嫔爲範,端莊華貴,男女形貌,都甚膚麗。佛前演奏,弦管雜陳,較之阿旃陀壁畫,尤或過之。敦煌莫高窟有唐代壁畫與彩塑的洞窟,共207個,可分初、盛、中、晚四期。其重要的洞窟,如初唐的220窟,造于貞觀十六年(642),盛唐的第335窟,造于垂拱二年(686),第130窟和第172窟,造于開元、天寶年間。中唐的112窟,晚唐的第156窟(此窟爲張議潮建,窟外北壁上有寫于鹹通六年的《莫高窟記》等,都存有輝煌燦爛的作品,可爲唐代佛教美術的代表。這些洞窟壁畫,雖出于無名畫家之手,但是研究它的作風,應該說是與吳道子、閻立本諸大家的作品是一致的。例如壁畫中的維摩诘經變,在座前的聽衆,有諸王貴官,與現存的閻立本的帝王圖相似。相此可以推知這些圖像的畫法,應有共同的淵源爲當時的規範。

  唐代這些壁畫,表現的題材是佛經經變故事、淨土變相以及佛菩薩像等。其內容較之過去更豐富,色彩也比較絢麗,表現的境界也更擴大。當時最流行的是佛教淨土信仰,因此淨土變相在壁畫中也表現得最多,約占228壁。其他如樂師淨土變相,報恩經變相等,也往往采取淨土變相作爲主要的部分。

  在淨土變相中,以富麗的物質現象,描繪觀想的境界。如彩緩七寶樓臺、香花伎樂、蓮池樹鳥等,將西方極樂世界裝飾得非常美麗。這與出世苦行禁欲的態度,有很大的差異。其中所繪的佛、菩薩、諸天、力士等,都是健美的化身。這和唐代的社會生活、人民的愛好是完全一致的。有些佛畫還點綴許多人們社會生活小景,樂觀、明朗,富有情趣。

  隨著佛教的繪畫藝術傳入中國,印度佛教的繪畫理論也同時傳入。南齊謝赫曾經總結繪畫的藝術有“六法”,而印度也有“六支”,兩者解釋都不很明確,不能肯定說“六法”就是“六支”,但彼此之間互相影響的確是存在的。

  雕塑  雖有外來的影響,但了有其偉大的創造和民族風格。在新疆,有古代龜茲、高昌等洞窟的造像;在甘肅河西走廓,有敦煌莫高窟、安西榆林窟、永靖炳靈窟、天水麥積山等石窟造像;再東進有山西大同雲岡、河南洛陽龍門、山西太原天龍山、河北邯鄲響堂山、河南鞏縣石窟寺、山東雲門山、江蘇連雲港、遼甯義縣恨佛堂等大小石窟造像,蔚爲盛觀。在江南的有攝山石窟造像,分布既廣,數目亦多。樂山大佛,尤呈偉觀。從北魏到隋唐時期,中國佛教的雕塑美術,創造了很多偉大的工程。以上所記的各石窟中,亦以北魏與隋唐時代的最爲精美,其中雲岡與龍門的石刻,可爲代表。其他全國各寺院中的金銅造像,石刻造像碑、木雕、夾  幹漆造像,更不計其數。佛教對于中國的雕刻與彩塑留下很大的成績。北魏時期的石窟造像,受外來影響,但與印度犍陀羅造像和笈多造像相比較,也各有不同的風格。至唐代而民族形式愈益成熟,它的妙相莊嚴,表現了中華民族的氣魄與所要求的藝術標准。在甘肅的敦煌與天水麥積山,由于石質是礫岩,不便雕刻,工人匠心獨運,改用彩塑。唐塑在基高窟中,煥發光彩。江南的楊惠之成爲泥塑名家。自宋、元以來,各寺泥塑甚多,此亦爲中國佛教美術所特有。

  藏傳佛教美術  既與漢族地區佛教美術有一定的淵源關系,又受印度、尼泊爾佛教美術影響,在中國佛教美術中,獨具風格。北京雍和宮、西黃寺及承德須彌福壽之廟,其殿宇、佛像等,均屬藏傳佛教美術系統。拉薩的布達拉宮,藏有古代流傳下來的大量佛畫與金銅佛像,以及刺繡與木刻的板畫佛像,普遍受到信衆的供養。在青海塔爾寺,每年以酥油製作酥油花禮佛,這是牧民的特殊佛教美術,在五屯,有製作佛畫的傳統技法,至今仍在發展。

  影響  在唐代,中國佛教美術曾流傳到朝鮮和日本等地。朝鮮南部慶州石窟庵釋迦如來坐像,妙相莊嚴;一一面觀音像、四菩薩像,姿態端莊,與中國盛唐時期佛教美術極爲相似。日本奈良中宮寺的菩薩像、木造彩畫,支頤微笑;藥師寺東院堂聖觀音菩薩像,銅造鍍金,修短合度;法隆寺夢殿救世觀音像,木造漆箔;法隆寺五重塔文殊菩薩像,塑敷彩;東大寺釋迦如來像,銅造線刻鍍金;唐招提寺金堂盧舍那佛像,幹漆造漆箔;各寺造像的取材和製作方法各不相同,但皆受中國唐代佛教美術風格的影響。法隆寺金堂壁畫,瑰麗莊嚴,也與中國敦煌壁畫,千古同輝。

  綜觀中國的佛教美術雖然曾受到印度的影響,但中國的佛教美術風格也傳到印度犍陀羅等地區,對印度佛教美術的發展曾有過一定的影響。(常任俠)

  佛教經典。全稱《維摩诘所說經》,一稱《不可思議解脫經》,又稱《維摩诘經》。後秦鸠摩羅什譯,3卷,14品。敘述毗耶離(吠舍離)城居士維摩诘,十分富有,深通大乘佛法。通過他與文殊師利等人共論佛法,闡揚大乘般若性空的思想。其義旨爲“彈偏斥小”、“歎大褒圓”,批判一般佛弟子  等所行和悟境的片面性,斥責歪曲佛道的絕對境界。認爲“菩薩行于非道,是爲通達佛道”,雖“示有資生,而恒觀無常,實無所貪;示有妻妾采女,而常遠離五欲汙泥”,此即“通達佛道”的真正“菩薩行”。又把“無言無說”、“無有文字語言”,排除一切是非善惡等差別境界,作爲不二法門的極致。僧肇在《維摩诘所說經注序》中稱:“此經所明,統萬行則以權智爲主,樹德本則以六度爲根,濟蒙惑則以慈悲爲首,語宗極則以不二爲門。”認爲此即“不思議之本”。

  根據各種版本的比較,此經成立的年代大概在1~2世紀,是印度大乘佛教時期出現的經典這一。在印度頗爲流行。但梵本大部已散失,只有一些片斷。它用寓于象征意義的談話形式,顯示出大乘性空思想的極意,爲同類經中藝術感染力較強的作品。後世把《維摩經》作爲在家佛教的重要經典,而維摩诘也被看成是在家佛教理想的體現者。此經于後秦弘始八年(406)在長安大寺譯出。但據《開元釋教錄》介紹,此經在中國早有流傳,從東漢至唐初,除鸠摩羅什譯本外,還有7個譯本:①東漢嚴佛調譯《古維摩诘經》2卷(已佚);②吳支謙譯《維摩诘經》2卷;③西晉竺叔蘭譯《異毗摩羅诘經》3卷(已佚);④西晉竺法護譯《維摩诘所說法門經》1卷(已佚);⑤東晉祗多蜜譯《維摩诘經》4卷(已佚);⑥唐玄奘譯《說無垢稱經》6卷;⑦東晉支敏度還曾將支謙、竺叔蘭和竺法護叁譯糅合爲一,名《合維摩诘經》行世。

  主要注疏有東晉僧肇《維摩诘所說經注》10卷;隋慧遠《維摩經義記》8卷,智顗《維摩經玄疏》6卷、《維摩經文疏》28卷,吉藏《維摩經玄論》8卷、《維摩經義疏》6卷;唐湛然《維摩經略疏》10卷,窺基《說無垢稱經贊》6卷等。日本聖德太子曾撰《維摩經義疏》。此外,勢範、凝然、鳳潭等也各著疏鈔流通。在中國還有藏語譯本。1928年,日本河口慧海將其譯爲日語刊行,題爲《漢藏對照國譯維摩經》。(高振農)
