  jijei

  佛教名詞。意爲合誦或會誦。即由佛教徒集會,對佛陀學說進行會誦。經過討論、甄別、審核,最後用文字確定下來,成爲經典。這種會議稱爲結集。關于佛教史上的幾次結集,南傳佛教和北傳佛教文獻的記載並不一致,但綜合兩傳文獻,可以認爲,佛教史上先後共有四次結集。

  第一次結集  傳說佛陀涅槃後不久,以其著名弟子大迦葉爲首的五百人,在王舍城外毗婆羅山的七葉窟進行結集。這次結集的主要內容是由號稱持律第一的優婆離和號稱多聞第一的阿難陀誦出毗奈耶(戒律)和法(經),然後經會議確定,編纂成書。因這次結集在王舍城附近,故又稱爲王舍城結集或五百人結集。

  第二次結集  王舍城結集後一百年左右,以耶舍爲首的七百僧衆,在毗舍離進行結集。此次結集的原因是毗舍離的僧侶違犯了原定的戒律,其中特別是出現了向人乞錢的事,于是又重新就戒律進行結集,確定了“十非法事”:①鹽姜合共宿(鹽姜允許儲下供日後使用);②兩指抄食(比丘原定正午前進食,但如果中午太陽的影子過二個指頭時進食還可算正午算);③複座食(吃完了,還可再坐就食);④趣聚落食(食後,還可到附近村落再吃);⑤酥油蜜石蜜和酪(不到時候,也能吃酥油、蜜、糖和奶酪);⑥飲阇樓伽酒(比丘在有病時,可吃一些經發酵的酒);⑦作座具隨意大小(比丘從具可隨意大小);⑧習先所習(出家前所習的東西在出家以後仍可學習);⑨求聽(僧團有事需大家商量,但有些場合,可先作,事後再求承諾);⑩受蓄金銀錢(可以受蓄金銀財物)。

  此次結集稱爲毗舍離結集或七百人結集,又由于參加此次結集的多爲佛教長老,故又稱爲上座部結集。

  對于上座部的決定,毗舍離的僧侶不服,于是另召集約有萬人參加的會議,並決定上述十事爲合法。由于參加這一結集的人數很多,因而被稱爲大衆部結集。這是佛教內部部派分裂的開始,此後,派別日益增多,從而佛教教義、學說和戒律也因部派之不同而有許多歧異和變化。

  以上是南傳佛教關于第二次結集的說法,但據北傳佛教著作《異部宗輪論》所載,上座、大衆兩部分裂原因則是由大天提倡異說而引起的,即所謂“大天五事”。五事即:①余所誘(雖爲阿羅漢,只要有生理欲望的存在,還有夢遺等事);②無知(還爲無明所覆蓋);③猶豫(還有對教理和戒律、叁寶的存疑);④他令人(還需要佛和其他先輩的指示);⑤道因聲故起(雖爲阿羅漢,有時如不發出“苦”的聲音,仍有世無常、苦等痛切的感覺)。

  第叁次結集  根據南傳佛教的傳說,在阿育王時期,每天在雞園寺中供養上萬名出家人,其中也有許多外道,因而經常引起爭端。于是以目犍連子帝須爲首的一千僧衆,在華氏城(即波多厘子城)進行了第叁次結集,重新整理佛教經典,並編輯了一部《論呈》。論事,就是爭論的問題,把不同派別的論點整理出來,正反面各五百條,合計一千條。觀僅存一百十六條,都是目犍連子帝須所反對的論點。從《論事》中可以看出,當時佛教內部又有了進一步的分裂,部派林立,爭論十分激烈。其中就涉及到補特伽羅的有無問題,犢子部分然主張有補特伽羅,而代表化地部的目犍連子帝須則堅決反對此說。

  關于這次結集,北傳佛教文獻中並無任何記載,因之也不爲北傳佛教所承認。

  第四次結集  據說在上述叁次結集之外,在貴霜王朝的迦膩色迦王時期,還進行過一次結集。這次結集是在以脅尊者爲首的五百人在迦濕彌羅(今克什米爾)進行的,並對經、律、論都作了注釋。現在,前兩種注釋已經失傳,只有後一種注釋保存下來,稱爲《大毗婆沙論》。這是北傳佛教的說法。南傳佛教則把19世紀在期裏蘭卡舉行的五百僧人結集,作爲第四次結集。這次結集首次把巴利語叁藏輯錄成冊。

  此外,又據1789年泰國伐奈那親王著、經拉瑪六世于1923年敕令出版的《結集史》一書所載,南傳上座部共舉行了九次結集。前叁次在印度,中間四次在斯裏蘭卡,最後兩次在泰國。前五次結集,經考證,與期裏蘭卡的《大史》的說法相同。至于第六次至第九次的結集,並未能取得泰國以外的其他南傳佛教諸國的認可。(高楊)
