He was carrying a shoe in his hand. I asked where he was heading, and he said he was going back to India. He told me the day I met him that our Emperor had died. Now I have come back and found that it did happen on that very day. How did he know

　　宋雲回到自己的國家北魏，就說起這件事：“我前兩天走到秦嶺，就是終南山那一帶，遇見達摩祖師，他手裏拿著一只鞋。問他到什麼地方去？他說回印度去。他還告訴我，就在我遇到他那一天，我們的國王死了；我現在回來，果然正是那一天。他怎麼會知道？達摩祖師說的話真靈驗啊！”
