指小乘声闻修行所得之四种证果。其阶段依次为预流果、一来果、不还果、阿罗汉果。或仅指第四之阿罗汉果。此外,俱舍论卷六列举之安立果、加行果、和合果、修习果等,亦称四果。(参阅“四向四果”1683)
(名数)声闻乘圣果之差别也,旧译家以梵名,谓为须陀洹果Srot&amacron;panna phala,巴Sot&amacron;panna phala,斯陀含果Sakrd&amacron;g&amacron;mi,阿那含果Ang&amacron;mi-,阿罗汉果Arahat-,新译家以前三果翻名为预流果,一来果。不还果,阿罗汉果仍其旧。一须陀洹果,旧作入流,逆流。入流预流,同一之义。谓去凡夫初入圣道之法流也,逆流者,谓入圣位逆生死之暴流也。申言之,即三界见惑断尽之位也。二斯陀含果,译云一来。断欲界九地思惑(新曰修惑)中前六品,尚余后三品者也。为其后三品之思惑,尚当于欲界之人间与天界(六欲天),受生一度,故曰一来,一来者一度往来之义也。三阿那含果,旧译不来,新云不还,断尽欲惑后三品之残余,不再还来欲界之位也。尔后受生则必为色界无色界。四阿罗汉果,译作杀贼,应供,不生。上至非想处一切思惑断尽之声闻乘极果也。以其断尽一切见思二惑,故谓之杀贼,既得极果应受人天之供养,故曰应供,一世之果报尽,故永入涅槃,不再来生三界,故谓之不生。[囗@又]一黄蓝花沙门,须陀洹之圣者也。二芬陀利花沙门,斯阿含果之圣者也。三柔软沙门,阿那含之圣者也。四柔软中柔软沙门,阿罗汉果也。见增一阿含二十。
Four Fruition == 四果
also known as Four Phala. These are four grades of arhatship, namely
1.Srota-apanna: has entered the stream of holy living; the first stage of the arhat, that of a Sravaka
2.Sakradagamin: comes to be born once more; the second grade of arhatship involving only one birth
3.Anagamin: will not be reborn in this world (i.e. Six Paths), but in the Form Realm or Formless Realm, where he will attain to Nirvana
4.Arhan: enters Nirvana. All Karma of reincarnation is destroyed. He also reaches a state of no longer learning. He is the highest Saint in Hinayana in contrast with the Bodhisattva as the Saint in Mahayana

俱舍论六卷二十二页云:复有余师,前五果外,别说四果。一、安立果,谓如水轮为风轮果,乃至草等为大地果。二、加行果,谓如无生智等远为不净等果。三、和合果,谓如眼识等为眼根等果。四、修习果,谓如化心等为诸静虑果。如是四果,皆是士用增上果摄。 - 朱芾煌

即声闻乘的果位:须弥洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿罗汉果。
须弥洹果亦称初果须陀洹,华译为入流,意为初入圣人之流;
二果斯陀含,华译为一来,修到此果位者,死后生到天上去做一世天人,再生到世间来一次,便不再来欲界受生死了。
三果阿那含,华译为无还,修到此果位者,不再生于欲界。
四果阿罗汉,华译为无生,修到此果位者,解脱生死,不受后有,为声闻乘的最高果位。
