指小乘聲聞修行所得之四種證果。其階段依次爲預流果、一來果、不還果、阿羅漢果。或僅指第四之阿羅漢果。此外,俱舍論卷六列舉之安立果、加行果、和合果、修習果等,亦稱四果。(參閱“四向四果”1683)
(名數)聲聞乘聖果之差別也,舊譯家以梵名,謂爲須陀洹果Srot&amacron;panna phala,巴Sot&amacron;panna phala,斯陀含果Sakrd&amacron;g&amacron;mi,阿那含果Ang&amacron;mi-,阿羅漢果Arahat-,新譯家以前叁果翻名爲預流果,一來果。不還果,阿羅漢果仍其舊。一須陀洹果,舊作入流,逆流。入流預流,同一之義。謂去凡夫初入聖道之法流也,逆流者,謂入聖位逆生死之暴流也。申言之,即叁界見惑斷盡之位也。二斯陀含果,譯雲一來。斷欲界九地思惑(新曰修惑)中前六品,尚余後叁品者也。爲其後叁品之思惑,尚當于欲界之人間與天界(六欲天),受生一度,故曰一來,一來者一度往來之義也。叁阿那含果,舊譯不來,新雲不還,斷盡欲惑後叁品之殘余,不再還來欲界之位也。爾後受生則必爲色界無色界。四阿羅漢果,譯作殺賊,應供,不生。上至非想處一切思惑斷盡之聲聞乘極果也。以其斷盡一切見思二惑,故謂之殺賊,既得極果應受人天之供養,故曰應供,一世之果報盡,故永入涅槃,不再來生叁界,故謂之不生。[囗@又]一黃藍花沙門,須陀洹之聖者也。二芬陀利花沙門,斯阿含果之聖者也。叁柔軟沙門,阿那含之聖者也。四柔軟中柔軟沙門,阿羅漢果也。見增一阿含二十。
Four Fruition == 四果
also known as Four Phala. These are four grades of arhatship, namely
1.Srota-apanna: has entered the stream of holy living; the first stage of the arhat, that of a Sravaka
2.Sakradagamin: comes to be born once more; the second grade of arhatship involving only one birth
3.Anagamin: will not be reborn in this world (i.e. Six Paths), but in the Form Realm or Formless Realm, where he will attain to Nirvana
4.Arhan: enters Nirvana. All Karma of reincarnation is destroyed. He also reaches a state of no longer learning. He is the highest Saint in Hinayana in contrast with the Bodhisattva as the Saint in Mahayana

1.指聲聞乘的四種果位,即須陀洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿羅漢果。初果須陀洹,華譯爲入流,意即初入聖人之流;二果斯陀含,華譯爲一來,意即修到此果位者,死後生到天上去做一世天人,再生到我們此世界一次,便不再來欲界受生死了;叁果阿那含,華譯爲無還,意即修到 - 陳義孝編
俱舍論六卷二十二頁雲:複有余師,前五果外,別說四果。一、安立果,謂如水輪爲風輪果,乃至草等爲大地果。二、加行果,謂如無生智等遠爲不淨等果。叁、和合果,謂如眼識等爲眼根等果。四、修習果,謂如化心等爲諸靜慮果。如是四果,皆是士用增上果攝。 - 朱芾煌

即聲聞乘的果位:須彌洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿羅漢果。
須彌洹果亦稱初果須陀洹,華譯爲入流,意爲初入聖人之流;
二果斯陀含,華譯爲一來,修到此果位者,死後生到天上去做一世天人,再生到世間來一次,便不再來欲界受生死了。
叁果阿那含,華譯爲無還,修到此果位者,不再生于欲界。
四果阿羅漢,華譯爲無生,修到此果位者,解脫生死,不受後有,爲聲聞乘的最高果位。
