梵語nirva^n!a，巴利語nibba^na。謂命終證果，滅障度苦。即涅槃、圓寂、遷化之意。此謂永滅因果，開覺證果。即永遠滅盡“分段、變易”等二生死，而度脫“欲、有、見、無明”等四暴流。（參閱“涅槃”4149）

　　（術語）梵語Nirv&amacron;na，巴Nibb&amacron;na之譯，有有余無余之二（見涅槃條），故皆指命終證果。無量壽經上曰：“國中天人不住定聚，必至滅度者，不取正覺。”法華經序品曰：“佛此夜滅度如薪火滅。”遺教經曰：“世尊滅度，一何疾哉。”涅槃經二十九曰：“滅生死故，名爲滅度。”肇論曰：“滅度者，言其大患永滅，超度四流。”行願品鈔四曰：“言涅槃者，具雲般涅槃那，古譯爲入滅息。息即是滅故，但雲入滅，或雲滅度，即滅障度苦也。”

It　　means　　having　　put　　the　　Two　　Obstacles,　　i.e.　　the　　obstacle　　of　　afflictions　　and　　the　　obstacle　　of　　what　　is　　known,　　to　　an　　end.　　It　　also　　means　　that　　the　　beings　　have　　transcended　　the　　Two　　Deaths,　　i.e.　　glare-sectioned　　birth　　and　　death　　and　　changed　　birth　　and　　death.
