從生態環保想到心靈環保

提要 :地球是我們賴以生存的唯一家園。所以,凡爲地球家園的成員,都有責任關心地球的永續生存。佛法明白告訴我們,有情與無情,都是“此有故彼有,此無故彼無”的同體共生關系。面對日益嚴重破壞的地球,本文一方面揭示出其被破壞的內在之因,是人類熾盛貪欲所致;另一方面指出不僅要注重生態環保,更重要的是心靈環保。

From Bio Global Protection to Spiritual Protection

Abstract:
Earth is our only home that we rely on for life
sustenance. Thus every member on the earth is
responsible to be heedful in the forever survival of our
earth. The Buddhist dharma clearly tells us that both
sentient beings and nonsentient beings alike establish
an interdependent relationship with each other. Facing
the increasing havoc the earth is suffering from, this
article points out that the intrinsic reason for the
damages is human”s greed on the one hand, and claims
that we should not only pay attention to the
environmental protection of ecology, but also the
environmental protection of the mind.
The root reason for the negligent destruction on the
earth is greed. Why is that
First, there is a lack of
awareness in environmental protection. People only
Wantto exploit things for present needs, without
considering the possibility of depletion in the future.
Second, there is no restriction on unlimited greediness.
Human beings are very egoistic. Inferior to human beings
they consume excessively. Due to this reason, there is
no end to careless destruction by human beings to the
living environment.In Buddhism, the mind is the major
power to control human behaviors. Although this mind
can”t be touched, it affects our body and everything
around us. Under its control, it affects each and
everything. “All matters are orginated fron the
mind——The mind is the master of all matters." All human
activities, anything either good or bad, are guided and
controlled by our minds. If we wish to have a cleansing
and peaceful world, we need to first purify our spirit,
to control our greedy thoughts.
As it is said in the scriptures, “Along with mind
purification comes the purification of Buddha”s land."
Due to the fact that the mind can make karma, it can
also transform karma. Therefore, we must train our mind
better.Master Sheng Yan pointed out that there were two
ways in protecting the environment. One way was to
reduce and recycle material consumption. The other was
to recover the original purity of the spirit.
Therefore, we must change our living style first. We
should be easily contented and have fewer desires.
Secondly, we need to correctly judge the relationship
between human beings and nature. Next, we need to have
gratitude. We should respect things that gratify us. And
we won”t do harm to them. This is not only an act of
kindness, but also an act of honoring life.it implies
that spiritual protection is the key to living
environment protection. only when there are kind spirits
would there be a good environment. The reason is that
the environment changes in accordance to our sentiments.
Today there are lots of people calling for the
environmental protection. Hopefully, there will be more
people joining in the protection of minds.
人類文明現在成了改變全球環境的主要原因。曾經,太陽與大地、水與空氣,爲我們培育出累累果實。我們得到這些果實的滋養,不斷地生長和創造、破壞和死亡、撫育和組織。我們自己在改變,世界也隨著我們改變。人類社會越來越巨大複雜,于是向大自然界索取的也越來越多。環境破壞的種種驚人圖景引起我們的警覺程度也許各不相同,但這些在世界各地都出現的圖景卻有一點是共同的——全球變暖、臭氧層損耗、物種滅絕、森林毀壞等等。我們必須鼓起勇氣來承認,我們和地球的關系從根本上改變了,我們也看到了這種轉變,生態保護成了今天全球的當務之急。
如果將環境汙染比作地球的一場疾病,在“病如山倒”的今天,提倡環保成了當今的時尚;但另一方面,我們是否應采取打破沙鍋問到底的方式追尋,爲什麼環境惡化始終得不到有效的扭轉?又是什麼原因促使我們一路屢屢鑄成大錯呢?我想,這才算是治標同時徹底的治本吧!
一 隨著物質文明的進步,我們的思想境界卻沒有得到相應的提高。
所以,在物質的享受的驅使下,我們各自的私心開始不斷膨脹。所謂內心的活動表現于外,而外在的反應又源自內心。如是,由心中的貪引發嗔,就進行無明的癡行,帶動身體興犯殺、盜、淫,口犯惡口、兩舌、妄語、绮語。《業報差別經》:“若有衆生于十惡業多修習故,感諸外物,悉不具足。何等爲十?一者,以其殺業故,令諸外報大地鹹鹵,藥草無力;二者,以其偷盜業故,感外霜雪、蝗蟲毒害等,令世饑馑;叁者,以其邪淫業故,感業風雨及諸塵埃;四者以其妄語業故,感諸外物皆悉臭穢。據此可知,世界的安危,治亂,與人心息息相關。”
